A lively atmosphere that was already present in this district in the 19th century, when the fish and lobster sellers passed on their way to Les Halles and where the great writers such as Balzac, Alexandre Dumas or Stendhal came to feast.

They would meet at the Rocher de Cancale (at No. 78), a restaurant that has retained its original façade like many others here. And in this unusual street, the shops have also preserved their woodwork of yesteryear and their murals.
