Bercy, Picpus – 0 appartments

Not far from the Ministry of Finance that stretches along the Seine, one of the largest parks in Paris honours the wine-growing past of the capital in the nineteenth century. Take your time for this walk in nature. Cobblestone streets, one hundred-year-old trees and railway lines of yesteryear have been preserved and blend perfectly with the renovated old wine or cattle warehouses : terraces, cinemas, shops, conferences … you can even attend an introduction to organic gardening.

There are many contemporary buildings, such as the Palais Omnisport Paris-Bercy, the Cinémathèque Française or the Bercy Village Shopping Center. A few steps away, Picpus is a concentrate of history. Its cemetery were buried the 1306 people who were guillotined on the Place de la Nation, a royal square at the time of Louis XIV. Today, it is a quiet area, recently restructured, with the creation of a green pathway on an old railway track which is very popular with families. This luscious flowering pathway will lead you from the Bastille all the way to the Vincennes woods.
